Move Breath Be Free - A two day arm balance and inversion workshop with Mari Dickey.
April 21st & 22nd, 2018, 1:30pm to 4pm
Find freedom through movement and breath; create new pathways and find new perspective by learning to get rooted through your hands rather than your feet. Be willing to get uncomfortable as you challenge the body and the mind in new ways. Find the balance between 'stirra' and 'sukkah' so your arm balance and inversion practice can be strong, fluid and sustainable.
Saturday April 21st, 2018, 130-4pm:
Ignite the fire and stability within. Be brave and learn to trust yourself to fly.
In this workshop we will delve into the world of arm balances from basic to advanced. Students often over-rely on force when working on these poses rather than learning to understand the essential actions and movements. We will explore prep work for wrists and shoulders and deep core strengthening to improve stability.
We will work to develop techniques that will help your body understand the mechanics and leverage of arm-balances so they can be safely and more effortlessly woven into your practice.
Sunday April 22nd, 2018, 130-4pm:
Open your heart and steady your mind- find new perspective as you get comfortable upside down.
In this workshop we will play with sweet twists, deep heart openers and delve into the powerful world of inversions. We will build on the prep work, core strengthening techniques and arm balances from Saturdays' workshop, as well as strengthen and open the shoulders and the spine. Take this opportunity to play upside down; build strength, patience and focus.
Cultivate body awareness by learning to feel and develop the power in your core and the lightness in your body through bandhas and breath. Come play. Open your heart and let yourself fly freely and fearlessly.
