Wednesday’s 1:45 - 4 pm
6-week registered course
April 10th - May 22nd (no class May 1st)
Investment: $120 for 6 weeks or $30 drop-in
Commit to deepening presence through a long midweek sadhana.
Course will include:
- Shared Inner & Outer Vayu exploration as a foundation of the yogi’s journey with Pranamaya Kosha. Includes practices shared by Orit Sen Gupta in her book ’Vayu’s Gate.'
- Exploration of sound & vibration as the origin of pranayama and a vehicle to discover the empty quiet space at the end of each exhalation. Pranayama practice will be shared with a contemplative inquiry into the intimate dialogue between ‘inner time’ and ‘outer time’ as a way of truly listening to the cue of the breath.
- Hatha Yoga sequences will support a balance of strength, play & ease in the nervous system & spinal column. Movements will be precisely guided with curiosity, an appreciation for subtlety and a light heart. Sequences resemble those shared in the Vijnana Yoga Manual as shared by Dona Hollamen in Dancing the Body of Light & Orit Sen Gupta in the Vijnana Yoga Manual. Sarah’s main asana influences have been the vibrant, feminine & soft biotensegrity work of Gioia Irwin & Orit Sen Gupta’s Vijnana Yoga retreat explorations. Various offerings for different bodies are available, so come as you are.
- Each gathering will close with text study. Together, we will look at The Yoga Sutras (among other pertinent texts & yogic-lore) as ‘Gossip from the Practice Room.’ As such, we will reflect on these poetic aphorisms as they may be relevant & real in our personal lives as yogi’s and human’s being. Philosophically, Sarah is grateful for time with Richard Freeman, Mary Taylor & Joan Halifax as compliments to the contemplative sutra conversations offered on Orit’s retreats.
